The Children’s Beacon of Hope Foundation was founded by a team that understands the challenges of growing up in poverty because we have lived them. Our leadership experienced firsthand the barriers that keep children out of school in Luweero District – the impossible choice between food and school fees, the lack of basic supplies, and the cycle of poverty that traps families for generations.
What began as informal mentoring and support for neighborhood children has grown into a comprehensive organization committed to serving vulnerable children and families across Luweero District. We don’t just study poverty – we’ve overcome it, and now we’re dedicated to creating pathways for others to do the same.
To transform vulnerable children’s lives in Luweero District by ensuring equitable access to quality education, comprehensive health services, and economic opportunities while building climate-resilient communities that leave no child behind, directly contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
A future where every child in Uganda has access to quality education, a supportive environment, and the opportunity to realize their full potential.
Uganda’s Children Face Unprecedented Challenges:
Uganda’s Untapped Potential
We don’t just provide services – we build systems. Our comprehensive model addresses the interconnected causes of child vulnerability through five integrated programs that work together to break poverty cycles:
Our Theory of Change
When children have access to quality education, families achieve economic stability, and communities become environmentally sustainable, and poverty cycles are broken permanently.
Community-Rooted Leadership
Our board and staff are from the communities we serve. We understand local culture, speak local languages, and have the trust that comes from shared experience.
Operational Foundation
We’re building active programs with measurable outcomes:
Dual Legal Status
Uganda Registration: Registered Community-Based Organization with Uganda’s NGO Registration Board
United States Registration: Incorporated in Montana, USA
Montana State File Number: F1527144-16680097
This dual registration provides international credibility while maintaining local community focus and government partnerships, allowing us to receive donations from both Ugandan and international supporters.
Every program directly advances specific Sustainable Development Goals, making us an ideal partner for organizations committed to the 2030 Agenda.
We primarily contribute to:
Financial Transparency
We maintain rigorous financial management systems, including planned annual audits and regular donor reporting, to ensure that every dollar maximizes impact.
Our Leadership: Board of Directors
Our Ten-member Board of Directors combines local community knowledge with professional expertise in education, health, finance, and development. Board members are elected by our General Assembly and serve three-year terms with clear accountability measures.
Management Team
Our management team brings together education professionals, community health workers, youth development specialists, and environmental advocates – all committed to our mission of breaking poverty cycles.
