In Luweero District, 40% of children drop out of primary school due to poverty. Girls face even worse odds – 60% abandon education due to early pregnancies, forced marriages, and a lack of basic supplies like sanitary pads.

With Uganda’s education sector underfunded and international aid reduced, vulnerable families are left choosing between food and school fees. This directly undermines UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), perpetuating the very poverty cycles that should be eliminated.
